A simple pair of beaded earrings

These hoop earrings were not planned. I decided to do them at the spur of the moment without following any pattern. It was an experiment that worked out somehow. I am not happy with the beads because they are uneven and this has effected the neatness of my work. The thread used is Lizbeth size 20 and the color is Butterfly Breeze. This thread is very smooth and fine. I would recommend it for beading projects as it is easy to slide the beads up and down.

Little Ring Snowflake

I started on a simple snowflake

This is Vida Sunderman's snowflake called the Little Ring Snowflake. I made a few changes to the pattern. As the pattern was tatted using size 10 thread and I was using size 20, I doubled the ds count. I was doubtful how it would turn out.

It has been tatted in Lizbeth size 20, Butterfly Breeze. This color is absolutely lovely.

Mary Konior and Sherbet Delight

Late last night I decided to tat earrings using an original and unique pattern. As I was flipping through the pages of Mary Konior's book "Tatting with Visual Patterns"  I came across a motif which could be adapted well to make earrings. I especially liked the shape of this small motif as it looked like a bell . These earrings are tatted in Lizbeth size 20, the color is Sherbet Delight.

This motif is Masquerade by Mary Konior, it has been tatted in Lizbeth size 20, colors used are Sherbet Delight and Rasberry Pink light.

Triangular Motif

This triangular motif  has been created from an edging pattern which I found in "Star Books #66 - Crochet and Edgings". It is a simple rings and chains pattern. The rings are 5-5-5-5 and the chains are also tatted in multiples of 5. Converting it into a motif gives me flexibility to arrange the motifs as required, it can be used on a dress, shirt or tablecloth. This motif has been tatted in Cebelia size 20, the color is Lavender.

Motifs 4 and 5

My fourth motif for the 25 Motif Challenge is Patchwork by Mary Konior. It is fairly simple but the the joins have to be done carefully. I used two shuttles and also used the back join at times to keep the front side neat. The thread used is Lizbeth Sherbet Delight, size 20.

My fifth motif is a lovely square creation which has been designed by Pat Tinney in the Design-Tat class. It has been tatted using Lizbeth Tutti Fruti and Hakelgarn white size 20.

Motifs and Challenges.

I got my first order from Handy Hands, an exciting collection of threads and books. Well you guessed right the thread is Lizbeth, all the new exciting variegated colors.

,

I recently tatted these bookmarks, the pattern is from Teri Dusenbury's site, it is called the Dandelion bookmark. I liked this pattern because of its simplicity. I omitted the outer row of split rings as the the thread was bulky. I will definately like to add it on the next time I tat the same pattern using a finer thread. The two ends seem like a SCMR at a first glance, but they are actually split rings with directional rings coming out from the second half of the split.  The thread used is Red Rose thread in size 20.

My first motif for the 25 motif challenge is "HOPE" by Mary Konior, from her book "Tatting with Visual Patterns". It is a very simple pattern using rings and a single shuttle. It is tatted in Lizbeth size 20, color is Tutti Fruti. In her remembrance and heartfelt appreciation for her contributions to this craft, I intend to tat many patterns by her in the coming months.

This is my second motif for the 25 motif challenge. I had tatted this motif using a pattern from "Tatting Patterns and Design" by Gun Blomqvist. I adapted this simple motif to get a small doily. By working the outer rows first and finishing off with the inner row.
