Motifs and Challenges.

I got my first order from Handy Hands, an exciting collection of threads and books. Well you guessed right the thread is Lizbeth, all the new exciting variegated colors.

,

I recently tatted these bookmarks, the pattern is from Teri Dusenbury's site, it is called the Dandelion bookmark. I liked this pattern because of its simplicity. I omitted the outer row of split rings as the the thread was bulky. I will definately like to add it on the next time I tat the same pattern using a finer thread. The two ends seem like a SCMR at a first glance, but they are actually split rings with directional rings coming out from the second half of the split.  The thread used is Red Rose thread in size 20.

My first motif for the 25 motif challenge is "HOPE" by Mary Konior, from her book "Tatting with Visual Patterns". It is a very simple pattern using rings and a single shuttle. It is tatted in Lizbeth size 20, color is Tutti Fruti. In her remembrance and heartfelt appreciation for her contributions to this craft, I intend to tat many patterns by her in the coming months.

This is my second motif for the 25 motif challenge. I had tatted this motif using a pattern from "Tatting Patterns and Design" by Gun Blomqvist. I adapted this simple motif to get a small doily. By working the outer rows first and finishing off with the inner row.
